This is only my opinion of the judges I have encountered.
Who I really like, who is a little bit above par, who is average, a little below, and pretty bad.
The judges are not listed in any particular order, they are just listed in a catagory of how I felt when I showed under
them.
I have shown under all of these judges, and a whole bunch more. Many of the judges are not listed here, but may
be listed here some day, if I show under them again, I may have a better opinion of how they judged the shows.
Favorite Judges - 10+
1. John Edwards - ABGA
2. Preston Farris - ABGA
3. Jackie Edwards - ABGA - Mrs. Edwards takes the time to talk to the exhibitors. She explains different
aspects of the goats and takes the time to check pigment, pallet, and teets on the animals before she has them leave
the arena. I appreciate her so much.
4. Kyran Larner - ABGA I showed under him at a OYMGA Show in Idabel, OK
5. Al Paul - IBGA Although I have never shown under Al Paul, he is one of my favorite people, and
I hope to show to him some day.
6. Phil Stacy - ABGA
Good Judges: Rate a bunch higher then the mid way mark. 6-10
1. Tracey Keihl - ABGA
2. Mark Berry - ABGA
3. Wess Hallman - ABGA
4. Reggie Phillips - IBGA
Not too thrilled about these judges: Rate between
1 and 5
1. Kyle Strickland - ABGA - I showed to him at the Texarkana Show in April 2007. Although this was a fun
show, over the whole weekend, I was surprised that Mr. Strickland didn't take the time to look at the pigment under the tails,
check the pallet and the teets of every goat prior to sending them out of the arena. I was disappointed. I
did not feel he did the job we paid him to do, which was to evaluate the stock at the show, as every goat in the
class deserved to be looked at closely. He was inconsistant in what he picked. One class would have goats
with no volume, but he would say they were the boldest and had the most width and spring of rib. One doe was just flat
sided. The only positive thing I can say is that he stated good reasons, and sounded good, although what he picked didn't
fit the reasons he gave.
2. Chip Kemp - ABGA Mr. Kemp may be a good judge, he talked about liking thick legs and big feet. But
when I showed to him, and had two in the class, so another girl showed my Fullblood Doe Delight, he placed her 13 out of 14
and said she had 74% pigment. Delight has been inspected by Tracey Keihl and John Edwards and passed her visual inspection.
I think those two judges would have seen that she had a marginal pigment. The doe has plenty of pigment under her tail
and is not marginal.
Aside from that, there has never been another judge in all the shows that doe has been to that has ever said she had
a marginal pigment or thought it was that close to call it 74%.
I was disappointed, and it made no sense.
Besides that, Mr. Kemp didn't stay to take photos with the Youth, he just ran off. I think it is nice if the Judges
stay around for maybe a few minutes to take pictures with the kids. I have never seen a judge run off like that after
the show.
I don't think I will hsow to him again. I will save my money for another judge and another day.
These listed under here are actually rated in the Pretty Bad to pethetic catagory:
They rate at a -1 and lower. Would never show to them again.
I think they don't know anything about judging goats or are just way too political
and will not judge a show fairly.
1. Doug Tolson, who is an ag teacher in Alex, Oklahoma. I don't know if he has a judges card.
2. Larry Peck, who is also an ag teacher in Oklahoma, don't know what town. I don't know if he has a judges
card either.
2. Kay Garrett, who is a mean, nasty, and hateful person. She told
me that no matter what I showed, I would never win, and she would make sure that I never won anything.
Kay Garrett holds a ABGA, IBGA, and AMGA card. She doesn't deserve to be a judge of anything. This is one
of the meanest adults I have ever met. I have never met an adult that is as mean and hateful as she is.
Ms. Garrett has a bad habit of trying to do harm to others. She has a big mouth and doesn't mind publicly humiliating
people, just like she did to me and my Mother at a sale last August in 2006.
Kay Garrett thought it was funny after she went up to my Mother and started yelling in her face, and then started to
yell at me.
It didn't stop there. Kay Garrett posted on a public message board lie after lie about my family. I read
what she put her name on, and we have copies of it. If anyone wants to read it for themselves. If you will
email me your name and address, I will mail a copy of the information to you.
You will be wasting your money if you pay to go to a show that she judges.
She will pick her friends, not the goats. If she would tell me I will never win anything, and that she would make sure
of it, then what do you think she will do when you go to a show she judges? I am only 12.
I forgive her for being mean, but I will not forget
how she has gone out of her way to harm me and my family.
